Jaws Area

The Jaws area is located at the trailhead for Weller Lake. It is a nice quiet spot right by the river, with flat landings and one of the best moderate highballs on the Pass.

Directions

Park at the Weller Lake trailhead parking1/2 mile past mile marker 49. The boulders are just down the stairs between the parking and the river.

Jaws and Piranha boulders

Jaws Boulder

 

1. Jaws [V3] A classic problem with a little bite. Start on the left side and climb up traversing into and finishing up the arete.

2. Chum [V8?] Start as for #3 but traverse left along the lip of the roof and finish on Jaws.

3. [V1] Climb the crack and face skirting the roof on the right and topping out straight up.

4. [V0] Climb the crack on the far right side of the boulder.

Piranha Boulder

 

5. [V0] Climb up the right leaning crack.

6. [V0] Climbs the slab to the right of the crack

7. [V2] SDS starting on the far left.

8. [V4] Climb through the center of the face. The SDS starts with both hands matched in a left facing rail and is significantly harder.

9. [V5] SDS matched on the low crimp. Move up and right to the arete and then along it to the top.
